MERU (Current Project)

Starting from the centre of the broken area of sidewalk, large loose slabs of concrete will rise and fall in the motion of a breathing chest. A concealed artificial mechanism creates this motion underneath a series of broken up and cracked concrete slabs, measuring approximately 16 ft long x 6 ft wide x 2 ft deep. The work exists on a busy wide pedestrian sidewalk in the downtown financial district of Manhattan.
Construction barrier and all the normal roadworks equipment surrounds the artwork keeping a separation between itself and the Public.
The artwork has city approval and permit clearance, it has large scale models completed, its budgeted and technically drafted and planned. Judlau Contracting are attached to do the physical work and reinstatement.
