NAOSHIMA STUDIES 2006
These painting come from visiting Japan and are a stepping stone from the Untitled Blood Series of 2005 towards the Blood of an Englishman Series. The black charcoal is representative of the wood roofs that encase the houses in the rural landscape of the country, intern representing the shell of our own body that contains our own inner spirit. The forms intentions are to describe inward sensations, that are in the process of reaching outwards to communicate beyond their own environment.
